Ethan Bo is a junior at Middleton High School. Ethan began piano lessons at the age of seven
and currently studies with William Lutes. His prior teachers were Zhehan Zhong and Daniel
Kuzuhara. His main piano honors include honorable mention in the Middleton High School
concerto competition (2022 and 2023); third place (2022) and finalist (2023) in the Chippewa
Valley Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition; honorable mention in the Wisconsin
Music Teachers Association (WMTA) State Badger Competition (2021 and 2023); the highest
rating in piano solos in Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) State Solo and Ensemble
Festivals (2020 and 2021); second place (2023), third place (2022), first place (2020), and trophy
winner (2017) in the Madison Sonatina Festival.
Ethan took up the violin at the age of five and is currently studying with Liz Norton. His prior
teacher was Erica Cross. He has been a member of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra
(WYSO) since 2016. Additionally, he was selected to be a member of the WSMA high school
state honors orchestra in 2022, and middle level state honors orchestra 2019-2021. He received
the highest rating in violin solos in the WSMA State Solo and Ensemble Festivals (2020 and 2021).
Ethan is a competitive tennis player, playing tennis since he was six. He placed second (2022) and third (2023) in the high school tennis individual state. He is currently ranked No. 2 in Wisconsin, No. 10 regionally and No. 169 nationally for his grade level (Tennisrecruiting.net). Ethan also enjoys learning, excels in math and has a passion for leadership development.
Daniel Quainoo is 16 years old and a Junior at Vel Phillips Memorial High School (Madison WI), where he is the Principal Cellist and a teaching assistant for the Orchestra, under Lisa Schrock. He began playing the cello 5 years ago at his previous schools in Georgia, and last year started studying privately with Amy Harr, and has also played in masterclasses with James Waldo. He has performed for Solo & Ensemble Festival, attended the Badger Orchestra Clinic, and the UW Summer Music Clinic. He plays in the Youth Orchestra and the chamber music program of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras. In his free time, he enjoys listening to various classical music, playing chamber music with friends, and arranging scores. He also enjoys distance cycling, weightlifting, producing videos, and video games.
Alexander Bo is a sophomore at Middleton High School. Alex began piano lessons at the age of six and currently studies with William Lutes. His prior teachers were Zhehan Zhong and Daniel Kuzuhara. His main piano honors include first place (2023), second place (2022) and semifinalist (2019) in PianoArts Wisconsin Youth Piano Concerto Competition; finalist in Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition (2022 and 2023); Northeast regional winner (2023), first place (2022) and second place (2021) in Wisconsin Music Teachers Association (WMTA) State Keyboard Competition; first place (2022), second place (2019) and trophy winner (2017) in Madison Sonatina Festival; and first place in the 2018 Steinway Junior Piano Competition.

Katarina Kenney, 15, is a Scholarship Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy, a training center for advanced pre-college musicians. She currently studies cello with Cornelia Watkins. Katarina made her solo orchestral debut at the age of 13 in a side by side performance with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and WYSO Philharmonia, and has since performed with the Madison Symphony Orchestra in their Fall Youth Concerts and in a side by side performance with the Wisconsin Youth Orchestra and Madison Symphony Orchestra. In 2024, Katarina will be soloing with the Middleton Community Orchestra and as a finalist in the Final Forte with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, which will be broadcasted live on PBS Wisconsin and Wisconsin Public Radio at Overture Hall.
A passionate orchestral and chamber musician, Katarina performed for four seasons with the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras, where she also enjoyed performing chamber music in the WYSO Honors String Quartet. As a member of the Pondrom Quartet, she won the silver medal and BIPOC performance prize in the Saint Paul String Quartet Competition (2023) and received honorable mention in the Chicago National Chamber Music Competition (2023). The Pondrom Quartet was also featured on Wisconsin Public Radio’s Midday Show with host Norman Gilliland. She is currently a member of the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy Orchestra and the Elysian Quartet.
Katarina has performed in masterclasses for Uri Vardi, Estelle Choi, Horacio Contreras, Yumi Kendall, Amy Barston, Avi Friedlander and Linc Smelser, and has spent her summers at Center Stage Strings and Cincinnati Young Artists Cello Academy. She was a winner of the WYSO Philharmonia Competition (2022), second prize junior division winner of the Center Stage Strings Young Artist Solo Competition (2022), Madison Symphony Orchestra Fall Youth Competition (2022), WYSO Youth Competition (2023), Middleton Community Orchestra Young Artist Competition (2024) and finalist in the Madison Symphony Orchestra Final Forte (2024).
In addition, Katarina is in her seventh season with the Madison Youth Choirs, where she has shared the stage at Overture Hall with the Madison Symphony and multiple area choirs for their annual holiday concert. She is a freshman at Madison Country Day School and enjoys participating in Model UN, the Social Activism and Awareness Club and community outreach.
